The Architect

Emerging onto the musical landscape in 2022, Saul Before represents a powerful convergence of past and present for its creator. Hailing from York, PA, this project marks a deliberate return to the visceral energy of punk rock and heavy metal – foundational genres for the artist, harking back to formative years spent behind the drum kit.

From the early 2000s through the mid-2010s, the artist honed a rhythmic foundation playing drums in various bands across the local scene. This raw, percussive intensity now fuels Saul Before, though it arrives after a detour through different sonic territories. Under the previous moniker Paul K.A., explorations into electronic music showcased a different facet of creativity, building textures and atmospheres distinct from the aggressive drive that defines the current work.

Saul Before is the product of a singular creative vision. Functioning as a comprehensive solo architect, the artist single-handedly writes all the music, performs and records every instrument, and meticulously handles all production, mixing, and mastering duties. This complete autonomy allows for an undiluted translation of musical ideas into the final recording, resulting in a sound that is both deeply personal and intensely crafted.

The current discography showcases this unique blend of influences – the aggression of metal, the raw edge of punk, often interwoven with unexpected experimental or indie rock sensibilities, reflecting a journey through diverse musical worlds.

While currently a studio-focused entity, the full sonic force of Saul Before is intended for the stage. The transition to live performance awaits the crucial addition of a dedicated vocalist to complete the lineup and translate the recorded intensity into a compelling live experience.
